Booking your motorhome with Knights Away is a straightforward process designed for your convenience. Follow these simple steps to secure your adventure:
Please ensure you have read our terms and conditions paying particular attention to checking if your driving license covers you to drive a motor home.
For quick reference, you require a C1 on your license.
1. View Our Motorhome: Visit our homepage to see our motorhome and read the detailed descriptions and specifications to help you make an informed choice. Please read our terms and conditions before booking.
2. Select Your Dates: Use our online booking system to enter your desired pick-up and drop-off dates. This will allow you to see availability in real-time. Remember if youre travelling to Europe your retun date must be the day after you arrive back in the UK.
3. Complete Your Booking: Fill in your details and any additional requirements you may have (such as optional extras like camping gear or child seats). Review your booking summary before confirming.
4. How to pay:
We offer secure payment methods for your peace of mind.
The deposit of £250 is due when making your booking.
The full balance and security deposit is due 8 weeks prior to collection or at the time of booking if you make the booking less than 8 weeks before you are travelling.
5. Prepare for Your Adventure: After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the necessary details about pick-up times, locations, and what to expect upon arrival.

Do I need a special licence to drive a motorhomeGalahad is a 4200kg vehicle, this means that in order to drive it you require a C1 on your driving license. If you passed your test before 1997 your license should have this. If you passed your test after 1997 you may need to take a further test to be able to drive Galahad. Please ensure you have checked this detail before booking as refunds cannot be given if you have booked without checking you have the correct license. We check these details on collection of the vehicle and we cannot let you take the vehicle if this is missing from your license. Where do I collect the vehicle from?Our vehicles are conveniently stored at a secure location just outside the A55, near Broughton, Chester and not at the address displayed on this website. Details and directions will be forwarded to you on receipt of your final payment, due 28 days prior to vehicle collection. Please allow one hour for handover on the day of your collection.

What if I've been convicted of a motoring offence?We need to refer you to our insurers. To do this we need your driving licence details and and all relevant information relating to your conviction. The likelihood is they’ll charge a slightly higher excess which we will need to pass on to you as a pre-authorisation transaction on the first day of your hire period. Naturally this amount will be refunded back to you upon return of the vehicle, if it is returned damage-free and within the parameters set out in our Terms and Conditions

What are the age restrictions on hiring and and betting insurance?You must be aged 25-72 and have held a full UK licence for a minimum 2 years with a maximum of 6 minor points. We can insure a maximum of 2 additional drivers on the motorhome at a charge of £5 per additional driver per night. If you fall out of these parameters, please contact us to talk through any options.

Is there a mileage limit?1000 miles per week is included in the rental price. The next 200 miles after this will be charged at an additional 10p per mile. The next 201 to 500 miles will be charged at 15p per mile. Mileage over 500 miles will be charged at 25p per mile This will be deducted from the security deposit at the end of the hire, providing no damage has been done to the vehicle resulting in loss of deposit. If so, the additional mileage cost will be charged to the hirer. Please read our Terms & Conditions Page

When can I collect the vehicle?Vehicles can be collected between 1pm – 3pm on the first day of hire as shown on your booking confirmation. You will be allocated a specific timeslot for your handover. Collection outside of these times can be arranged subject to availability and at the discretion of Knights Away.

When do I return the vehicle?The vehicle needs to be returned on the last day of your hire agreement by 10:00am. Note: Charges are applied for late returns. European Travel: Vehicle needs to return to UK 1 day prior to your vehicle return date. For example if your return crossing to the UK is booked for the Friday you must choose Saturday as your return day to ensure there is enough time to return the vehicle before 10am.

Is there a Damage Deposit?We require a damage deposit which is held by pre-authorisation, which is returned to you in full providing the vehicle is returned undamaged. The deposit of £——— is payable when the balance is due to cover any damage to the motorhome or damage/breakages of the equipment. When the Motorhome is returned it will be checked over, providing the following are found to be satisfactory we will return the security deposit by bank transfer immediately which may take your bank up to 5 days to process. The motor home will be checked for the following: It is returned in the same condition it was let out. Toilet and waste water tank empty and cleaned inside and out. Interior clean including all cooking appliances. Fuel tank replenished. Knights Away reserve the right to deduct any amount which we determine to be due to us from the security deposit to cover the cost of the above as detailed below: FUEL - up to the value of filling the tank to full plus £75 admin charge. INTERIOR CLEAN - £100 for valeting TOILET & WASTE TANK CLEANING - £100 STAINED CARPETS/SEATING/FURNITURE - £100 per identified stain. Damage & Cleanliness Whilst we will make no charge for small breakages or damage please inform us immediately during your hire time to enable us to order replacements so that the next hirer is not inconvenienced and to deal with any insurance claim should the need arise. For the avoidance of doubt, the vehicle needs to be returned in a clean and undamaged condition as outlined above.

Do I need prior motorhome experience?No. We will provide you with everything you need to know along with top tips on the day of your collection. A handy reference guide will also be made available. Please allow one hour for handover on the day of your collection.

What deposit is required to book?A deposit of £250 is required upon booking. Please note that if your planned collection date is within 28 days, then full payment is required at the point of booking.

Are Dogs Allowed?Yes our motorhome is Dog Friendly with a few T&C’s We operate a Paws on the floor policy due to the full leather interior, any damage caused would require us to obtain a quote for the repair, in this circumstance your security deposit would not be returned until we have obtained this and the relevant deduction made to cover reupholstery. Please note the Law regarding Dogs being secured during travel, you are required to provide a crate/cage for this purpose, you can add this on to your booking on the booking form. Please be reminded that failure to provide this would mean you are not insured if you had an accident and you would be fully responsible for all damage. We know your dog is part of the family and fully expect that they will be going everywhere with you on your adventure, please note it is not permitted to leave your dog in the motor home when you are not there unless they are crated. Please ensure your dog is used to this if you plan to leave them so as not to distress your pet or cause a nuisance to neighbours on a site if your dog does not settle in the crate.

What documentation is required?On the day collection we require you to provide the following documentation for all drivers: A valid driving licence with a C1 allowance. Two original proofs of address (dated within 90 days of the hire). This can be: Electricity, Water, Gas, Broadband/Landline, Council tax, Credit card statement, Mortgage statement, Polling card, HMRC self-assessment/tax credit. Photocopies will be taken on the day of collection and the originals will be returned to you. We also require you to generate a driver check code which is obtained through the government website: https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence Note: Any person who has more than 6 penalty points on their licence will need to be referred to our insurers and may be subject to increased excess. Referrals need to be submitted prior to the day of collection.

What type of campsite should I book?Campsites offer a variety of different style of pitch types. Having one with access to an electrical supply will make your experience easier, although, our vehicles are more than capable of operating well ‘off-grid’. Can I leave my car?Yes! You can leave your car free of charge with us whilst away in one of our motorhomes. If you require a Service or MOT done whilst you are away this can also be done at an additional charge. Please visit https://chestercarservice.co.uk to book.

What is the minimum age to hire a motorhome?Our insurers cover from those aged 25+subject to also having the C1 allowance on your driving license. Unfortunately we cannot hire to anyone who is below this age.
